This might come as a surprise to all those who struggle to make time to read their Bibles. But it really isn’t that hard. Is it that hard to cut out half an hour of video games? Half an hour of web surfing? Half an hour of TV? Half an hour of homework? (If the A is getting in the way of your walk with Jesus, then the A is an idol and you should be getting B’s instead.) I bet you won’t even miss what you just cut out.
If getting into the word is the easy part, then what’s the hard part?
Getting the word into you is the hard part. Reading to learn something new about God is harder than reading to check it off your list. Reading to live more like Jesus is harder than reading and not thinking about it.
So I challenge you: make time to get into the word, but make sure it is enough time to get the word into you. What are you waiting for? Do it now.
